Campylobacter Species, Microbiological Source Tracking and Risk Assessment of Bacterial pathogens

چکیده
Campylobacter species continue to remain critical pathogens of public health interest. They are responsible for approximately 500 million cases gastroenteritis per year worldwide. Infection occurs through the consumption contaminated food and water. Microbial risk assessment source tracking crucial epidemiological strategies monitor outbreak campylobacteriosis effectively. Various methods have been proposed microbial assessment, most which rely on conventional microbiological techniques such as detecting fecal indicator organisms other novel methods, including library-dependent library-independent approaches. However, both traditional their setbacks. For example, while associated with a poor correlation between organism pathogen presence, hand, it is impractical interpret qPCR-generated markers establish exact human risks even though can give information regarding potential relative risk. Therefore, this article provides up-to-date campylobacteriosis, various approaches attribution, bacterial pathogens, next-generation sequencing shotgun metagenomics, effectively answer questions there in what quantities.

BacWGSTdb, a database for genotyping and source tracking bacterial pathogens
Whole genome sequencing has become one of the routine methods in molecular epidemiological practice. In this study, we present BacWGSTdb (http://bacdb.org/BacWGSTdb), a bacterial whole genome sequence typing database which is designed for clinicians, clinical microbiologists and hospital epidemiologists. This database borrows the population structure from the current multi-locus sequence typing...
متن کاملWhat is Microbiological Risk Assessment?
In the past decade, the Food Safety discipline has addressed the assessment of hazards in foods within the framework of Risk Analysis, a new science-based paradigm intended to guarantee human health protection contemplated by EU legislation (Reg.178/2002). The objectives of risk analysis are to estimate the risk to human health of a hazard associated with food consumption; and most importantly,...

Prevalence of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli in captive wildlife species of India
Campylobacteriosis is an important zoonotic disease and the prevalence of Campylobacter is largely unknown in the wildlife of India. A total of 370 samples, comprising of 314 fresh faecal samples from apparently healthy captive wild animals and birds, 30 stool swabs from animal care takers and 26 samples of the animals’ food and water were collected from G. B. Pant High Altitude Zoo, Nainital, ...
متن کاملA population-based exposure assessment of risk factors associated with gastrointestinal pathogens: a Campylobacter study.
A questionnaire survey was undertaken to determine the exposure of a study population to campylobacteriosis source risk factors (environmental, water, food) and results were stratified by age, population density and deprivation. Data were gathered using an exposure assessment carried out by telephone in the Grampian region of Scotland. Univariate analysis showed that children aged 5-14 years, l...
